It’s never too early to learn the basics of good skin care or the health benefits of relaxation. Four Seasons Resort Seychelles new Junior Spa Menu showcases natural ingredients and a gentle approach to help guests as young as six develop an early understanding of holistic (‘whole’) healing – and there’s not a chocolate bath in sight…

“Indulgent treatments are all very appealing,” explains Gretchen Hessinger, the Resort’s Director of Spa, “but it’s important to educate children that spas are the key to a range of health benefits that far exceed pure pampering.”

The new menu features nine dedicated treatments ranging from ‘Sweet Feet’ – one of two treatments suitable for six year olds – to ‘Totally Teen’ treats. There are also therapies designed for children to take with their parents to encourage bonding through shared discovery. Each treatment uses the naturally-derived products of Sodashi alongside a unique blend of local herbs and spices. To help develop responsibility for their own well-being, the menu addresses children directly in language simple enough for them to read themselves.

“Developing a healthy lifestyle from an early age is a vital life lesson,” continues Hessinger. “Tailored spa visits can help teach children how to combat stress, optimise health and how relaxing and looking after their bodies can also help look after their minds.”

Featured in Condé Nast Traveller’s “Hot List Spas 2010″, The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles is a haven of serenity perched 80-metres above the idyllic Petite Anse Bay. Eight individual treatment rooms high amongst the tropical canopy reflect the Resort’s ‘treetop’ design, with soaring ocean and jungle views that elevate guests to a higher state of being even before their treatment has begun. Alongside the Junior Spa Menu, new adult treatments launching this summer include ‘Child of the Earth’, a unique medley of hair, body and foot therapies using the natural bounty of the surrounding forests to balance and strengthen from head to toe.

Named after a famous naturalist, Charles Telfair, who lived in the area in the 19th century, this elegant and refined hotel invites its guests to stay in a setting inspired by the Mauritian plantation architecture and style of colonial times. The sublime 5-star establishment opens out onto a magnificent tropical garden through which the Citronniers River flows. Escaping back through time, Heritage Le Telfair immerses its guests in a very special atmosphere, embodying the charm and romanticism of yesteryear…

From 16 August, the hotel will reopen after extensive refurbishment, introducing a new spa concept and a focus on the natural beauty of the area. The five star resort’s appeal will be broadened to families and couples, seeking a diverse experience, along and beyond the exceptional beaches.

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Heritage Le Telfair resembles a picturesque village with its 20 plantation style villas, each of them with white painted wood and intricate fretwork. The rooms are now plusher than ever with a soft, more feminine design exemplifying Heritage Le Telfair’s understated luxury and relaxed atmosphere.

The Golf du Château golf course and clubhouse as always offer clientele a memorable golfing experience with a unique 18-hole championship course laid out over spectacular stretches along the foothills and overlooking the Indian Ocean.

After all these activities, spa lovers will be keen to check-in at the all new Seven Colours Spa “Millesime Collection”. The facilities, unique on the island, now include a large hydrotherapy pool, enhanced treatment and relaxation rooms, tailored spa experiences and signature treatments designed by the Mauritian spa brand for the hotel supplemented by a range of experiences which also extend throughout the hotel with personalized fitness programs, introductory sessions to the wellbeing facilities, a choice of ‘health’ dishes and drinks, meditative relaxation or relaxation sessions in one’s room.

Heritage Le Telfair - Spa Seven Colours

Guests can now enjoy a larger number of interconnecting rooms – a welcome addition for families. Additional high tech amenities include large plasma flat screen interactive TVs, iPod docking systems and high-speed internet access in all rooms.

For younger children the Timomo Kids Club is open from 8.30am to 11.00pm and is the one of the very few kids club on the island that takes children from the age of two. While the children are kept entertained, parents will be able to take advantage of the new second 175 square metre heated outdoor swimming pool or perhaps enjoy a delicious meal for two at the revamped Gin’ja Pan Asian restaurant on the beachfront. Heritage Le Telfair has also refurbished two of its other dining outlets; the main restaurant Annabella’s with its traditional style open live kitchen now has a new buffet offering and Le Palmier bar now extends service to the beach and poolside, serving light lunches, snacks and beverages. The interactive cuisine concept has now been extended across the whole of the resort… a real feast for all the senses !

Not to forget the crown jewel of the Domaine, the Château de Bel Ombre, now restored and redecorated for the reopening. It has a unique and enchanting atmosphere inspired by the sugar plantation mansions of the the 19th century, where guests can delight in the finest Mauritian cuisine prepared with local products.

Launching this December is the adjacent new C Beach Club that will redefine simple pleasures in an innovative setting. The beach club will include chill-out zones, a swimming pool, two restaurants, one bar and its own stretch of beach.

This will provide an ideal spot for adults, children and teenagers to enjoy the outdoors.

The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, will reopen its doors on Sunday, October 10, 2010. One of this year’s most eagerly anticipated openings, The Savoy has been undergoing the most ambitious restoration in British history.

The hotel closed in December 2007 for a restoration that encompasses the entire building from the iconic entrance and the American Bar to Savoy Grill and the 268 guestrooms and suites.

“We are very excited to reopen The Savoy”, comments Kiaran MacDonald, General Manager. “It is fair to say that this project has not been without its challenges, but we are looking forward to unveiling the results of nearly three years of hard work and dedication. We are very aware of the place that The Savoy holds in many people’s affections and we firmly believe that the hotel will exceed people’s expectations and reclaim its position as one of the world’s great hotels.”

The Savoy Hotel, Art Deco room

The new interiors have been designed by world-renowned designer, Pierre Yves Rochon who has won acclaim for his work on other landmark hotels. His plans have been realised by the general contractors, Chorus Group and architects, Reardon Smith. Chorus have overseen a team of over 1000 craftsmen and women, artists and artisans who have worked tirelessly to create interiors that are in the spirit of the hotel’s two main design aesthetics, Edwardian and Art Deco.

“This has been a once in a lifetime project to work on,” says Tony Dowle, Director of Chorus’ parent company, Byrne Group. “Everyone who has worked with us at The Savoy has taken great pride in restoring such an iconic property. Their dedication and commitment has produced a hotel of uncompromising quality and we hope that the hotel’s guests will continue to enjoy our work for years to come.”

The Savoy’s reopening will reveal a number of notable highlights including the complete remodel of the legendary River Restaurant, the addition of a luxurious new two bedroom Royal Suite and the relaunch of 38 River Suites and Guestrooms with stunning views over the River Thames.

New to the hotel will be The Beaufort Bar, a glamorous art deco bar that will offer champagne, cocktails and cabaret and Savoy Tea, a bijou teashop selling Savoy tea, accessories and fresh patisserie. Within the Thames Foyer, the re-introduction of a stunning winter garden gazebo beneath an ornate glass dome will provide the perfect ambience for afternoon tea. In addition, the Savoy Grill will return again under the operation of Gordon Ramsay Holdings with Chef Patron, Stuart Gillies and Head Chef, Andy Cook. For those who wish to continue their fitness regime on the road, there will be a contemporary, glass enclosed fitness gallery and rooftop swimming pool – one of the few in the city.

Room rates at The Savoy will start from around GBP 350 per room per night and reservations will open on 10th August 2010. Reservations can be made by calling 020 7836 4343 or by emailing savoy.reservations@fairmont.com Please visit www.the-savoy.com for further updates on the restoration.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company L.L.C. opens its second hotel in Shanghai, The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong on June 21

The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong, opening on June 21, will be the luxury hotel brand’s second property in the city, and its seventh in China. Located in Shanghai ifc, the prime real estate in Lujiazui financial trade zone, the hotel and development is the work of architect Cesar Pelli.

“The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong is an integral feature of Shanghai ifc, developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties, one of Asia’s leading property developers, with proven excellence in creating world-class mixed-use developments incorporating luxury retail, office, residential and hotels, as the company’s IFC and ICC in Hong Kong have demonstrated. It is a great honour for us to partner with Sun Hung Kai to build and develop this iconic hotel in Shanghai,” commented Rainer Burkle, area vice president and general manager.

The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong

The 285-room Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong is Shanghai’s ultimate destination for luxury and style, and occupies the top 18 floors of the Shanghai ifc South Tower. Opening in June during the World Expo, the design and style of the hotel is contemporary, with hints of new interpretations of 1930’s Shanghai Art Deco. This gives a great sense of place to the hotel as guest rooms and restaurants embrace magnificent sweeping views over The Bund – the most intact collection of Art Deco architecture anywhere in the world.

With interior designs by Richard Farnell, The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong guest rooms and suites range in size from 50 square meters (500 square feet) to 400 square meters (4,000 square feet), for the palatial Ritz-Carlton Suite and Chairman Suite. There are three floors of Club accommodation, and each club room enjoys access to the hotel’s stunning Club Lounge on the 49th level, which will be open 24 hours a day.

This new hotel will offer a host of exquisite luxury restaurants and a bar with unrivalled views over The Bund and the Shanghai skyline. Restaurants include Aura Lounge and Jazz Bar, Jin Xuan, the fine dining Chinese Restaurant designed by Steve Leung; Scena Italian Restaurant and Flair Rooftop Restaurant and Bar, both designed by the world famous Super Potato. Flair is Shanghai’s highest al fresco dining and wining venue and is destined to be the unique new social center of Pudong and the city. Featuring more than 2,500 square meters (25,000 square feet) of meeting and conference space on the third level, including a 1,135-square-metre (11,350 square feet) Grand Ballroom, the second largest ballroom among the city’s luxury hotels, The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong can accommodate large and small meetings and gatherings in sumptuous environment with world-class technology and facilities underscored by The Ritz-Carlton legendary service. All meeting space offers floor-to-ceiling windows and natural daylight.

The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong

Located on the hotel’s 55th floor, and occupying an area of more than 1,500 square meters ( 15,000 square feet), The Ritz-Carlton Spa by ESPA features 10 treatment rooms, including nine multi-function treatment rooms and a Harmony Suite where two guests may relax and enjoy treatments together. The Ritz-Carlton Spa by ESPA combines the essence of ancient and modern Chinese, Indian, European and Balinese spa cultures and uses luxury ESPA products that harness the best of nature’s essential oils, botanicals and marine supplements. The exquisite collection of treatments represents complete care, personalization and the ultimate in luxury.

A diamond-like façade glittering with the vibrancy of the city, Shanghai ifc mall also boasts opulent interiors framing the most stylish shopping environment and housing hundreds of world-renowned international branded retails. Guests of The Ritz Carlton will enjoy direct access to this world leading lifestyle landmark.

“As Shanghai has been experiencing exponential growth and many multi-national companies have opened in Pudong, we find it strategically viable for The Ritz-Carlton to be located on both sides of Huangpu River,” Burkle explained. “While The Ritz-Carlton Portman, Shanghai at Puxi has established its name over the past decade as the most preferred luxury hotel in the city, I have no doubt that The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong will prove itself to be another quintessential business and social centre for domestic and international travelers alike.”

The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris Launches L.Raphael. Swiss skincare line now exclusive to Four Seasons in France.

L.Raphael, the much celebrated Swiss skincare brand, is making its French debut at the Spa of the Four Seasons Hotel George V.

With remarkable results in the fight against aging, L.Raphael’s treatments are both effective and refined.

The menu of treatments available at the Spa consists of therapies for the body and face, lasting 50 minutes each. All treatments are performed in a quiet and elegant atmosphere in the Spa’s elegant cabins, which are designed in the spirit of Marie Antoinette’s boudoir. Spa treatments are also available to those not staying in the Hotel.

The treatments for the face address the needs of both men and women who wish to improve the quality and appearance of their skin and to prevent premature aging. With their dramatic effect on the skin these treatments provide immediate results and long term benefits.

The diverse menu of body treatments addresses skin concerns ranging from loss of firmness and shape, stretch marks, cellulite, and scalp and hair concerns.

The revolutionary Oxy Peel treatment, a result of years of research by L.Raphael, rejuvenates the skin and significantly improves its appearance. It is preformed using L.Raphael’s proprietary Oxy-Tech II machine in combination with the brand’s exclusive LEC40 anti- aging complex. The advantage of the Oxy-Tech II machine is its ability to deliver the active ingredients deeper into the skin than any topical application.

The Oxy Slim treatment inspired by the Oxy Peel treatment uses an exclusive slimming complex and helps reshape the body and slim it down.

About L. Raphael

The L.Raphael brand, which may be considered as haute couture skincare, owes its success to its investments in scientific research. L.Raphael’s treatments and skincare products rely on breakthrough technologies and many years of research on cell membranes by the renowned Professor Meir Shinitzky.

Founded in Geneva by Ronit Raphaël, Jonathan Leitersdorf and Dr Raphael Gumener, the brand has its flagship Temple of Beauty on Geneva’s Rue du Rhône, which is supervised by Dr. Gumener, and a prestigious 3,000 square metre Chalet in Verbier. Both of these venues quickly became truly dedicated sanctuaries devoted to beauty and well-being.

L. Raphael is also represented at The Spa of Four Seasons Resort Provence at Terre Blanche, providing an ideal setting for a beauty retreat in the south of France.

Anantara Phuket Villas launches the Summer Escape package, making indulgent two nights private Pool Villa stays even more enticing. Simply book before June 30, 2010 for stays until the end of October 2010, and discover the high life of Phuket, inclusive of daily gourmet breakfast.

Located a convenient 15 minutes from Phuket International Airport, Anantara Phuket Villas nestles Mai Khao beach on the island’s secluded northwest coast, between sun-kissed beaches and Sirinath National Park. 83 private Pool Villas introduce guests to the height of island sophistication, with a blend of captivating scenery, imaginative luxuries and unique resort features promising journeys of breathtaking allure.

“From the open pavilion reception, rest on spacious sofas as cool welcome drinks and refreshing towels are served. Glimpse your first sights of our traditional Thai village inspired resort, designed around a lattice of tranquil lagoons. Gaze over a central lake edged by a wooden walkway and La Sala restaurant’s spacious terrace, where breakfasts are enjoyed as families of white ducks meander through the lush lotus leaves.

Stroll, or take a buggy ride, along a maze of tropical pathways to your very own Pool Villa. Through a private wooden doorway, walk into a garden courtyard with wooden deck framing your pool and shaded sala. Refresh with a choice of al fresco rain shower and inside bathroom, with doors opening onto an oversized bathtub of floating petals that is sunken into the pool, admiring ornamental fish lights which can be dimmed to suit your mood. Turn back through the spacious bathroom to find a wardrobe and dressing area packed with every home convenience imaginable. Complete the circular villa tour to wind up in the king sized bedroom, where a corner lounging area is adorned with distinctive oriental cushions. Laze in bed, draw round the white muslin drapes, and cocoon yourselves in a timelessly evocative four poster bed. Awaken to inspect your villa in closer detail to discover inspiring hints of the land and sea, with the turtle emblem evident throughout the resort, depicting not only the picturesque national park setting, but also the charity that Anantara Phuket generously supports.

Exchange private pool seclusion for our unique infinity pool. Perch on stools at the swim-up bubble bar. Lie back on stone slabs between two turtle fountains where jets create a whole body massage. Wade through ankle deep water of the overflowing infinity pool, where double daybeds on raised platforms overlook a grassy garden of beanbags and oversized cushions, beyond which a sand volleyball pitch edges a pine tree fringed beach dotted with windsurfs, creating an idyllic spot for dramatic sunset toasts as world renowned chill-out beats are played.

Alternatively ascend spiral steps wound around an age-old banyon tree and sink back into a double daybed at The Treehouse for complimentary coffees and teas between 4 and 5pm. Or listen to ambient music in time for sundowners, using the latest gadget that has taken the world by storm as you make plans for a spa treatment or boat trip to Phang Nga bay, simply by touching the menus on the resort’s new in-house iPad.”

Experience surprising luxury from Phuket’s most secluded shores, with Anantara’s special Breeze rates.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific’s leading luxury hotel group, has signed an agreement with Tanriverdi Holding Company to manage the Shangri-La Hotel, Istanbul, opening in April 2012. The hotel will be the group’s first in Turkey.

Shangri-La Hotel, Istanbul will be located between the Dolmabahce and the Maritime Museum on the European coast of the Bosphorus Straits, the 30-kilometer stretch of water separating Europe and Asia. Set within the Besiktas district, the shopping and transport hub of Istanbul, the hotel will be near the city’s financial district and the Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Centre. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is home to many historical and cultural sites including: the Istanbul Concert Hall, the Ataturk Culture Centre, the newly restored Akaretler complex of neoclassical buildings, palaces from the Ottoman Empire period, and several theaters.

The hotel will be a five-minute walk from the Dolmabahce Palace, the former center of the Ottoman Empire and home to six sultans, which is now a national heritage museum. Also within easy reach is the Nisantasi neighborhood known for its restaurants, cafes and bars and the prestigious Macka luxury shopping area. Guests will be able to reach Sultanahmet, the historic center of the city that lies across the Golden Horn, within 15 minutes by public transportation.

Built on the site of a former tobacco factory and warehouse from the 1930s, the Shangri-La Hotel, Istanbul will recreate the exterior facades of the old building, which are protected by the city’s Cultural and Natural Assets Committee. From the hotel’s prime coastline location, guests will enjoy views across to the Asian coast of Istanbul, the Bosphorus Bridge and the city’s historic peninsula. The hotel will be designed by Istanbul-based architect Piramit with 14 storeys, seven of which will be underground to protect the historic facade. The building will be the second tallest on the coast after the Dolmabahce Palace.

The hotel’s 200 guestrooms, some of which will have private terraces, will reflect the city’s proud heritage while also including the Asian design touches and modern travel technologies for which Shangri-La is well known. The hotel will offer several restaurants and bars including a rooftop restaurant with views of the city’s historic skyline and coastline. Additional facilities will include a health club, spa, swimming pool, business centre, ballroom, and conference and meeting room facilities.

“We are proud to work with the Tanriverdi Group on their first hotel project to make their dream of a world class luxury hotel a reality,” said Kuok Khoon Ean, chairman of Shangri-La Asia Limited. “We are honored to have the opportunity to create a Shangri-La in Istanbul, a city that has welcomed distinguished guests since the Roman and Byzantine empires, and look forward to becoming a part of the city’s future.”

“We selected Shangri-La to manage this property because of its sterling reputation in providing luxury hospitality. The travel and tourism industry continues to grow in Turkey and with our passion for the hotel business alongside Shangri-La’s commitment to excellence we hope to contribute to that growth by creating the best hotel in the region,” said Recep Tanriverdi, company chairman of Tanriverdi Holding Company.

The award-winning Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will introduce a new bespoke Oriental Essence spa therapy, together with additional homecare products at many of its luxury hotel spas worldwide, from May 2010.

The one-hour signature Oriental Essence massage has been devised to introduce guests to a simple, effective and authentic spa experience in a short period of time. Oriental Essence consists of a powerful, hands-on body massage ritual that combines the potent effects of oriental meridian massage with the therapeutic benefits of Mandarin Oriental’s signature ‘Quintessence’ custom-blended essential oil.

Each treatment begins with a short back diagnostic consultation in order to determine each individual’s personal and current state of wellbeing. A firm full body massage is then tailored to each guest in order to leave the body, mind and spirit energised, revitalised and in perfect harmony.

“The Oriental Essence therapy is a powerful stand-alone treatment that will leave guests feeling relaxed in a short period of time. It is also a wonderful introduction to Mandarin Oriental’s signature therapies, for those who wish to learn more about the Group’s award-winning, holistic approach to wellness,” said Group Director of Spa, Andrew Gibson.

‘Quintessence’ custom-blended essential oil is used in the Oriental Essence treatment, and is the foundation of Mandarin Oriental’s signature product line, which has been developed specifically for the Group by the award-winning UK based company, Aromatherapy Associates. This balancing essential oil blend brings the body’s energy flow into alignment. Warming ginger, uplifting mandarin and sacred frankincense bring a grounding influence, encouraging a deep sense of equilibrium for mind and body.

Mandarin Oriental Sanya, Spa Products

As well as body oil, ‘Quintessence’ is available as a generic body scrub, body wash, burning oil, bath and shower oil and body lotion. All contain natural ingredients and are paraben free, and have been blended by a master blender to Mandarin Oriental’s specifications. The ‘Quintessence’ products, together with Mandarin Oriental’s other signature formulations are available for purchase at Mandarin Oriental spas, so that guests can continue using specific blends at home.
